Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour of presenting the programme of the 19th International Silesian Guitar Autumn Festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. We will be celebrating this jubilee with pride and joy, in the spirit of a Spanish fiesta, but also with a note of reflection. Commemorative exhibitions and lectures will provide an opportunity to reminisce about the artistic emotions experienced during previous editions of the festival and recall countless related anecdotes. Not shying away from retrospection and reflection, however, I wish the jubilee edition of the Silesian Guitar Autumn, rich in history, could be an event showcasing the guitar immersed in the musical currents of our time. We will, therefore, hear not only outstanding classical guitar virtuosos associated with the history of the festival, including laureates of the Tychy competitions, but also renowned representatives of jazz and flamenco guitar, who will perform in Tychy for the first time. At the festival concerts, the guitar will be featured in solo performances, chamber ensembles, and as a solo instrument with orchestra. Its sounds will guide us through the colourful world of historical and contemporary music, of classical and popular alike. During the auditions for the Jan Edmund Jurkowski Memorial Guitar Competition, we will hear an international group of the most talented young musicians. The festival programme will be complemented by an extensive educational offering, including masterclasses, lectures, and exhibitions addressed to all guitar enthusiasts.
I invite you to all the festival events, convinced that the diverse and fascinating music presented by master guitarists will enchant and delight you, becoming a source of lasting memories and joy.
