An integral part of the festival is the J.E. Jurkowski International Guitar Competition, considered one of the most important guitar competitions in the world. Due to its level and prestige, it is sometimes called the “Chopin Guitar Competition.”
The second-stage auditions will take place on October 20 and 21, and admission is free. We cordially invite you to listen to live performances by young classical guitarists. Applications for the first stage are currently open and will be accepted until August 31, 2026.
The competition culminates in the finals, scheduled for October 24 at the Mediateka in Tychy. The six finalists will perform one of two great guitar concertos, accompanied by the AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy, conducted by Justyna Kwarcińska: Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez or Concerto No. 1 in D major Op. 99 by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. The winner will receive a grand prize of €8,000 and the prestigious title of competition winner.
