The concert will serve as an invitation and a preview of the 20th edition of the Silesian Guitar Autumn Festival. The artistic director – Marek Nosal – has designed the program so that the first part of the concerts consistently showcases the classical guitar as a key to the world of music, and subsequently – in the second part – as a universe of multiple musical styles and genres. This will also be the case this time at the Concert Studio of Polish Radio Katowice.
The first part will feature soloists – this year’s graduates of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, who are participants in the XX Jan Edmund Jurkowski International Guitar Competition. They will perform solo guitar pieces that belong to the canon of the guitar repertoire.
In the second part of the concert, we will hear flamenco guitar and percussion instruments. This combination in the hands of virtuosos – Michał Czachowski and Krzysztof Nowakowski – guarantees energy, expression, and musical passion. Flamenco is the most popular and widely loved ethnic music in the world. It originated in Andalusia – a region of southern Spain where the cultures of various nations crossed paths over hundreds of years. Each civilization possessed its own customs, music, and instruments. After many years, as a result of mutual influences, a mysterious, extraordinarily expressive music emerged at the beginning of the 19th century, which we know today under the name of Flamenco.
The artists will take the audience on a fascinating journey through sounds inspired by Spanish culture, flamenco, and world music, creating a performance filled with emotion, rhythm, and virtuosity.
The evening will be not only a musical celebration for guitar lovers but also a unique opportunity to discover the diversity of the contemporary faces of this instrument and the atmosphere of the upcoming jubilee edition of the Silesian Guitar Autumn Festival.
