A commemorative panel combined with a tour of the exhibition will take place at the venue of the “40 Years of the Silesian Guitar Autumn” jubilee exhibition at the City Museum of Tychy. The meeting will be led by Honorary Professor of Education Zbigniew Dubiella and Dr Wojciech Gurgul.
The focal point of the meeting will be the history of the most important guitar festival in Poland, viewed through the key milestones of its subsequent editions. The speakers will select one event from each edition of the Silesian Guitar Autumn that particularly reflects the stature, transformation, and atmosphere of the festival. Among the featured topics will be the inaugural edition prepared by Prof. Alina Gruszka, the first composition commissions, the competition successes of then-young and now world-famous guitarists, and visits by prominent figures of the global guitar scene, such as Leo Brouwer, Roland Dyens, or the Assad brothers.
The event will be enriched by a screening of archival audio-video materials from the collection of Zbigniew Dubiella, Poland’s most renowned collector of guitar memorabilia. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss the new edition of the book dedicated to the festival’s history, updated with events from the past decade as well as new source materials, photographs, and personal accounts.
The second part of the event will feature a curator-guided tour of the exhibition „40 Years of the Silesian Guitar Autumn,” offering participants a unique insight into the festival’s rich history and legacy.
