Four-time Grammy-nominated guitarist Mak Grgić has been described by The New York Times as a “gifted young guitarist” and by The Washington Post as “a guitarist to keep an eye on.” Known for his bold repertoire and versatility, he performs worldwide both as a soloist and a collaborator, presenting music ranging from Balkan traditions to avant-garde and microtonal works. He has performed in prestigious concert venues such as Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. He has also collaborated with artists and ensembles such as k.d. lang, the JACK Quartet, and the American Composers Orchestra.
Beyond his concert career, Mak is highly active as an educator and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Notey Inc.—an AI-driven music learning platform aimed at making music education more engaging through interactive gamification elements. He also founded the Virtual Guitar Orchestra—a global initiative uniting thousands of guitarists worldwide, which was recognized by the Library of Congress for its cultural contribution during the pandemic. Born in Ljubljana, Mak studied in Vienna and Los Angeles, and has served on the faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Music.
…a splendid, finely detailed performance showed Grgić to be a guitarist to keep an eye on.
