Throughout the festival, Agnieszka Nowok-Zych will accompany our audience as the festival host and presenter, leading all concerts. Her experience, musical expertise and ease in engaging with audiences will make her not only the voice of the festival, but also a guide to its artistic world.
Agnieszka Nowok-Zych graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Katowice, where she studied music theory, as well as from the University of Silesia, where she studied cultural studies with a specialisation in cultural theory. She holds a Doctor of Arts degree in the discipline of musical arts. Her doctoral dissertation received an honourable mention in the Hieronim Feicht Award competition for outstanding works in music theory and musicology, organised by the Musicology Section of the Polish Composers’ Union.
She is currently affiliated with the Academy of Music in Katowice, where she works as an assistant in the Department of Composition and Music Theory. Her professional activities encompass both academic research and the popularisation of music. She is the author of scholarly articles, reviews and album liner notes, and has participated in numerous national and international conferences.
Of particular importance to her role at the festival is her extensive experience in hosting concerts, meetings, auditions and artistic events. She has collaborated with institutions and organisations including the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), the Silesian Philharmonic, Polish Radio’s Programme Two, Polish Radio Katowice and Polish Radio Chopin, as well as numerous organisations dedicated to presenting and promoting music.
Her experience also includes some of Poland’s most significant musical events. Agnieszka Nowok-Zych has hosted concerts, meetings and auditions at such festivals and competitions as the KODY Festival of Tradition and Musical Avant-Garde, Poznań Baroque Festival, Karol Szymanowski Music Days Festival in Zakopane, Polish New Music Festival “Prawykonania” in Katowice, Katowice Kultura Natura Festival, as well as the Michał Spisak International Music Competition and the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors.
This experience enables her to combine two perspectives – that of a music expert and that of a communicator who can speak about music in an accessible and engaging way. At our festival, she will guide audiences through the programme, introduce performers and events, and help create a smooth and welcoming experience throughout the festival.
Agnieszka Nowok-Zych has also been awarded scholarships by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Minister of Science and Higher Education. Her work as a lecturer and music communicator has brought her into contact with a wide range of audiences – from professional musicians and dedicated music lovers to those discovering the world of music for the first time.
