The evening will commence with a concert by the winner of the 18th International Guitar Competition at the Silesian Guitar Autumn Festival 2022 – the French guitarist, Cassie Martin, who began her guitar journey at the age of five. After years of study, she emerged onto the broader guitar scene, collaborating with international guitarists such as Sérgio Assad, Tania Chagnot, Jérémy Jouve, Judicaël Perroy, Eric Franceries, and Johan Fostier. In 2020, she became a EuroStrings artist, gaining access to the European scene. She currently teaches masterclasses and performs at festivals around the world.
At the previous International Guitar Competition in Tychy, Cassie Martin won first place and captured the hearts of the audience. Since then, her artistic career has been developing rapidly. The young artist performs extensively across Europe, Asia and the United States. In Tychy, she will present a diverse repertoire – including Baroque, Romantic and contemporary works – comprehensively showcasing her unique talent.
The second part of the concert will feature the Radom Chamber Orchestra, well known to the audience in Tychy, conducted by Szymon Morus. The orchestra is famous for its highly diverse repertoire, which includes both works from the canon of string orchestra literature as well as lesser-known pieces, meticulously rediscovered and rehearsed for a novelty-seeking audience. The exceptional versatility of the orchestra’s musicians allows for inspiring interpretations of new pieces
During the concert in Tychy, the Radom Chamber Orchestra will introduce the work of the guitarist, composer, educator, writer, popularizer and guitar collector Harvey Hope, who passed away in 2014. The music of Harvey Hope is characterised by clear emotions and a recognizable style, primarily drawing on Spanish music. One such piece, referencing the famous Concierto de Aranjuez, is De Madrugada for guitar and orchestra, which will be performed in Tychy.
Mateusz Kowalski, one of the most outstanding guitarists of the young generation, will be the soloist at the concert. His extensive repertoire spans from Renaissance to contemporary music, demonstrating an exceptional understanding of style and a rich musical culture. His solo performances and collaborations with orchestras have been a true revelation in the world of classical guitar in recent years.
